Welcome to Maai Mahiu Secondary School!

Welcome to Maai Mahiu Secondary School! Our school was established in 1998 by the parents of the neighboring primary school. From humble beginnings, it has grown into a large and thriving school. Our school has 6 classrooms, a computer lab, and a science lab. Currently we have over 500 students enrolled in Form 1 to 4 (grades 9 through 12), and we are planning to separate into two schools - a boys' school and a girls' school. On this blog you will find posts from Maai Mahiu Secondary School and partners from around the world. Read and enjoy!

From Rafiki Link Club members in Kenya - our introductions

We took videos of some of the head Rafiki Link at our beautiful school, Maai Mahiu Secondary... check out what we have to say:
- First, Mary - shy on camera but not in person. She is sponsored by Bodwell to attend high school
- Sammy or Njahe... a funny guy! He says he is the deputy head boy, that means he is like the assistant prime minister of the school.
- Paul Karanja, the entertainment prefect and a member of scouts!
- Can you catch the name of this guy?
- Caroline, another Bodwell-sponsored student - and her best friend :)

Jambo! I'm Domenica

Hi everybody!

My name is Domenica, I'm 17 years old and I come from Mexico.

I am interested in photography, reading, writing, listening music -especially rock and roll; I'm a Beatles lover- and dancing. My favourite dance is Spanish, which I used to practice in Mexico since I was 10. I also like being outside practicing sports.

I am always laughing; a funny fact is that when I laugh a lot I start crying!

The way I see life could be resumed in Gandhi's quote "Live as you were to die tomorrow. Learn as you were to live forever". I try to make the most of every experience and every second spent, and obtain knowledge about them.

I look forward to hearing from you guys!

Best wishes,

Domenica ;)

Jambo!

Hi Guys!
My name is Christine Wright but people call me Kiki.
I come all the way from Ecuador in South America!

I love animals and trying new experiences.
Most of all, I enjoy spending my time meeting new people and learning about new cultures.

I am always smiling and I'm a happy person, there is no reason in this life to be sad, you know...If you ever fall down, just stand up and keep on walking.

I also love to learn new languages, if you can teach me some of yours, please do :)

Gracias ! (Thank you in spanish)

With love - Kiki!

Hi, I'm Kamilya)

Hi everybody))) My name is Kamilya, I like new experiences and moving to a new places to learn about the cultures. I was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan – a wonderful place on the Earth. I spend there most of my life. Last year I moved to Russia, where I’ve graduated from a high school. And now I’m here, in Bodwell as an international student.

I joined rafiki club this year, and I like it so far! I really want to keep it touch with students in Kenya, to make there friends, because it's a chance to learn about a different culture and life style. Also I want to share my interests and life experience with others!

I have a lot of interests, as I think the self-improvement and studying is very important in each life. Philosophy, religion, education, music, playing piano, guitar, drums, listening to music, cooking, reading, alternative history, esoteric, skiing, volleyball, basketball, skating, making new friends, photographing art, museums, old streets, Russian classic literature, vegetarianism, self-perfection, science, UFO, different worlds, undiscovered abilities of a human body and brains, … That’s a bit about me)))
